MU's Defense Is Back Solid, Defender Leandro Martinez Is Ready To Fight Brentford
JAKARTA - Manchester United defender Leandro Martinez has recovered from a knee injury. His presence makes MU's defense solid again and Martinez is ready to play against Brentford in the Premier League England match, Sunday, March 31, 2024 in the morning WIB.
Martinez suffered a ligament injury on his knee when United won 3-0 over West Ham United, February 2024.
Previously, he received a leg injury that forced the Argentine national team defender to be sidelined for four months.
After recovering, he played four times. When Martinez returned to duty at the heart of defense, MU never lost. But Martinez was again injured which kept him out for several weeks.
Now, the 26-year-old defender has undergone training as usual and has the opportunity to appear against Brentford. "Yes, he has the opportunity (to return to the squad)," said manager Erick ten Hag.
"So far, we have lost him because Martinez has definitely brought peace to the team. At the same time, he showed a stance to win and that character was clearly visible. Such a attitude could be transmitted to the team and contributed in the match," he said.
MU is getting more and more excited because not only Martinez, but Luke Shaw defenders are also recovering. Only Shaw, who had a muscle injury, still couldn't take off against Brentford.
"The recovery process is still on schedule. He will return to the team when the time comes," said Ten Hag again.
