Prabowo-Gibran Team Calls Disqualification And Re-presidential Election Will Cause Crisis

JAKARTA - Prabowo-Gibran's legal team member, Otto Hasibuan, said that if Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud's demands regarding the disqualification of candidate pair number 2 and re-presidential election were granted, it would cause a crisis.

This was conveyed by Otto as the relevant party when responding to the petition of Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud at the election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK).

"If this series of elections intersects, for example with a request for disqualification, re-election, it has the potential to cause other problems that lead to a constitutional crisis in our beloved Republic of Indonesia," said Otto, Thursday, March 28.

If Anies-Muhaimin and Ganjar-Mahfud asked Prabowo-Gibran or one of them to be disqualified, Otto considered that this lawsuit was not against the KPU but against the Constitutional Court itself.

This is because Gibran Rakabuming Raka can meet the requirements as a vice presidential candidate thanks to the Constitutional Court's decision Number 90/PUU-XXI-2023.

"So that the applicant is no longer dealing with the KPU or the respondent and related parties, but with the Constitutional Court itself," he said.

Furthermore, Otto assessed that the narrative of the applications of the two pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates was more of an assumption and accusation of fraud in the implementation of the election.

Again, Otto also assessed that the lawsuit regarding fraud that occurred during the election stage was not the domain of the Constitutional Court to handle it. This case should be handled by the Election Supervisory Body.

"So it can be said that the petitioner's petition is one of the rooms. Likewise, the petitioner's petitum is also not in accordance with the procedural law in force at the Constitutional Court because we see the petitioner's petitum has been targeting everywhere," he said.
