Staff Of The Minister Of PUPR: New Elected Regional Heads Are Expected To Have A Strong Vision To Solve Water Issues
JAKARTA - Special Staff to the Minister of PUPR for Water Resources Firdaus Ali hopes that the new regional head to be elected in the simultaneous regional elections in November 2024 will have a strong vision to resolve water problems in their respective regions.
This is because the problem of water directly touches the community and the most important thing is the local government (Pemda).
"There will be simultaneous regional elections in November 2024 to elect a new regional head and we hope that the regional heads who will be elected have a strong vision to resolve water problems in each of their regions," Firdaus said at the Road to 10th World Water Forum Press Conference: "Preparation of Good Success in Organizing" online, Thursday, March 28.
Firdaus is worried that if the elected regional head cannot answer problems related to water, in the future it will be difficult for the Indonesian people to achieve prosperity.
"Without this strong commitment, I'm sure it will be difficult for us to achieve prosperity. Meanwhile, we are surrounded by potential hydrometeorological disasters around them," he said.
Therefore, Firdaus said, the central government will invite all local governments to attend the 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali in May.

It is hoped that later they will be able to implement their commitment to solve water problems in their respective regions if elected.
"For the first time, we also want to bring local governments to Bali so that they also learn to build communication to cooperate with their partners abroad or at home," said Firdaus.
"So, they know this is an issue that will be brought back to their area for them to implement and make it a commitment in their own city/district/province," he added.
