In Front Of Prabowo, AHY Tells The Story Of Democrats Losing The DPR Seat Due To Money Politics Outside The Nalar
JAKARTA - Presidential Candidate for the 2024 presidential election Prabowo Subianto attended a gathering and iftar with the elected president held by the Democratic Party in St Regis, Kuningan, South Jakarta.
In front of Prabowo, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), told about his party who lost many seats in the DPR even though the party vote increased in the 2024 Legislative Election.
It is known that the Democrat Party lost 10 seats in this election. As a result of the 2019 election, Democrats received 10,876,663 votes out of 139,970,810 valid votes. If converted by calculating the Sainte Lagie method, the Democrats got 54 votes.
Meanwhile, in the 2024 election, the Democrats did get 11,283,160 out of 151,796,631 total valid votes. However, if converted, the Democrats only got 44 seats.
Even so, the Democratic Party still passed the parliamentary threshold with a total vote of 7.43 percent.
"As we have reported to you, at our previous meeting, even though the Democratic Party experienced an increase in votes nationally, we lost a number of seats in the DPR RI," said AHY in front of Prabowo accompanied by the Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), Wednesday, March 27.
The son of the eldest of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia said that the loss of votes by Democratic candidates was because many other parties used money politics or bought people's votes (vote buying) for reckless events.
"One of the most significant factors that causes the loss of our seats is the rise of vote buying or money politics beyond our reason," said AHY.
However, AHY was relieved that Prabowo as the elected president had the same concern to improve the electoral system in Indonesia.
"But I am so relieved, when I heard the response from Pak Prabowo, that you also have the same concern. In fact, Pak Prabowo is determined to seriously improve our election system in the future," he said.

AHY also promised to make the government a success and focus on helping fulfill Prabowo's campaign promises. On the other hand, said AHY, his party does not want to interfere with Prabowo's focus in preparing future work programs.
In fact, said AHY, the Democratic Party has prepared its best cadres to enter the ranks of the Prabowo-Gibran government cabinet to realize Indonesia's prosperity.
"You have also ordered me to prepare a number of the best cadres of the Democratic Party, who will help you in the cabinet and future government. Hopefully we can really help you to make better Indonesia, the next five years," he concluded.
