Shin Tae-yong Proud Of The Indonesian National Team To Be Able To Break A Bad Record For 20 Years
JAKARTA - The Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, is proud of the hard work of his team which successfully recorded a 3-0 victory over Vietnam at My Dinh Stadium, Hanoi, Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
This result also automatically broke the bad record of the Indonesian national team, which for 20 years had never won at home to The Golden Star.
The meeting of the Indonesia vs Vietnam national team is the fourth match of the second round of Group F of the 2026 World Cup Qualification in the Asian Zone.
The three goals that led to the victory of the Garuda Squad were Jay Idzes (9'), Ragnar Oratmangoen (23'), and Ramadhan Sananta (90+8).
In addition to boosting points in Group F, this victory is also Shin Tae-yong's moment to keep his promise.

Previously, the South Korean coach was determined to win in Hanoi. Shin Tae-yong expressed this desire to break a bad record that had been troubling the Indonesian national team when appearing at home in Vietnam.
"Indeed, for 20 years we have never won against Vietnam in Hanoi. That is a bad record, but that record exists to be broken. The moment is today. The record has finally broken," said Shin Tae-yong in a statement at a press conference after the match Tuesday, March 26, 2024.
Shin Tae-yong said that this victory could not be separated from the slick capital of the team brought from Jakarta. Previously, when appearing at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, March 21, 2024, the Garuda Squad also won 1-0.
It is considered that Shin Tae-yong's capital is quite a hassle for the home team and is under pressure. In addition, he admitted that the slick results this time could not be separated from the performance of the team that appeared relaxed and was also full of struggle.
"Moreover, the match (team game) was very relaxed. For Vietnam, maybe because they lost in Indonesia, so this is quite difficult."
"To win here (the Vietnam scene), we are also trying hard, trying our best. Finally, we got lucky (wining and record breaking)," said Shin Tae-yong.
The last time the Indonesian national team won at home to Vietnam was in the 2004 Tiger Cup (now AFF Cup). At that time, the Garuda squad also won 3-0.
Boaz Solossa, Ilham Jaya Kesuma, and Mauli Lessy were the actors in the victory of the Indonesian national team at that time.
