Pope Francis' Visit Plan To Dili, RDTL Holds Meeting With NTT Police To Discuss Security

East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police and the intelligence agency of the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL) held a meeting at the NTT Police Headquarters in order to establish security cooperation ahead of the arrival of Catholic Leader Pope Francis to the city of Dili, Timor Leste."This visit is an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia, especially the NTT Regional Police and Timor Leste," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police Kombes Ariasandy in Kupang, Antara, Monday, March 25.The arrival of the head of intelligence (SNI) Timor Leste Longinhos Monteiro and his entourage to the East Nusa Tenggara Police Headquarters was greeted directly by the Deputy Head of the NTT Police, Brigadier General Pol Awi Setiyono.He explained that in this gathering, the Deputy Chief of the NTT Police was accompanied by Irwasda Polda NTT, Kombes Pol. I Made Sunarta, as well as a number of other officials, Wadirintelkam Polda NTT, and Kasetum Polda NTT.The Head of Public Relations explained that during the meeting, RDTL's intelligence chief said that Sri Paus Fransiskus was planned to visit the capital city of RDTL Dili in September 2024.His party predicts that many Catholics from Indonesia, especially Nusa Tenggara, will enter the city of Dili, Timor Leste."They asked for cooperation with the National Police, especially the NTT Police and all stakeholders at PLBN Mota Ain to help regulate the flow of Indonesian citizens to Timor Leste," he said.Ariasandy added that the visit of the RDTL intelligence chief was part of strengthening bilateral relations between countries, especially the NTT Regional Police and RDTL."This visit is an important step in strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia, especially the NTT Regional Police and Timor Leste," he said.Discussion and information exchange are expected to increase cooperation in the field of security and intelligence between the two countries.The group from BIN Timor Leste is also expected to get a better understanding of the current security and development situation in the NTT region, as well as expand cross-border cooperation to maintain regional stability.
