Zulhas Claims Food Commodity Prices At Tambun Market Are Starting To Drop: Almost Normal
JAKARTA - Minister of Trade (Mendag) Zulkifli Hasan said the price of a number of food commodities in Tambun Market, Bekasi Regency, West Java, began to decline ahead of Eid 2024.
The food commodities in question are large red chilies, cayenne peppers, curly red chilies to rice.
"Caye fell a lot from Rp. 100,000 to Rp. 35,000. The rice has fallen a lot, there is no rice price of Rp. 17,000-Rp. 18,000, the most expensive we saw was Rp. 14,000, Rp. 12,000 and Rp. 11,000. The decline was more than Rp. 1,000. So, it's almost normal," said Zulhas at Tambun Market, Bekasi, Saturday, March 23.
Zulhas assessed that the decline in chili prices was due to the conventional concept. Meanwhile, specifically for rice, the price has started to fall because at the end of March it has entered the main harvest season.
"Finally this month it's the main harvest. Entering April, local rice prices are normal," he said.
