Reactivation Of The Bawean WK Bawean Camar Field Will Stimulate Oil And Gas Production
JAKARTA - The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) together with the Cooperation Contract Contract Contractors (KKKS) of PT Prima Energi Bawean (PEB) have completed a series of activities for the Bawean Camar Field (WK) reactivation.
The field is located north of the East Java Sea, about 90 kilometers (km) from Surabaya which has been on hiatus for three years.
Head of the SKK Migas Program and Communication Division, Hudi D. Suryodipuro, said that SKK Migas encourages PEB to be able to take various steps and efforts to ensure that what is planned can be carried out according to the set time.
"The existing developments cannot be separated from SKK Migas' efforts to encourage the acceleration of the reactivation of the Camar Field since the government gave this block in December 2022. One of the accelerations is the transfer of SPM (single point mooring) assets from Pertamina. We give our appreciation for the strong commitment from PEB to carry out the execution of the existing program so that currently the Camar Field can produce again," said Hudi quoting Antara.
SKK Migas also encourages PEB to be more active in carrying out programs to increase production and carry out exploration programs so that oil and gas potential in the WK can be optimized to support national energy security.
Meanwhile, Prima Energi CEO Pieters Utomo stated that PEB will continue to coordinate and synergize collectively in carrying out a series of reactivations of the Camar Field.
"We appreciate that SKK Migas, which continues to jointly oversee this project, hopes that the smoothness and success of this project can make a positive contribution to the country, especially for the upstream oil and gas industry in Indonesia," he said.
As the operator of 100 percent of the Camar Field in WK Bawean, PEB has obtained the PSC Cost Recovery contract through the Director Of Tender Oil and Gas effective since December 15, 2022, with a commitment in one year to produce.
PEB has successfully carried out this commitment by completing the central processing platform (CPP) reactivation activities within approximately one year, which includes activating production facilities, installing production support facilities and processing of related permit permits such as revising environmental permit approval documents.
Including, the addition of four development well locations, approval of suitability of sea space utilization activities (PKKPRL), determination of security and safety zones (ZKK), determination of restricted and restricted areas (DTT), and processing permits for proper operation (PLO) approval.
PEB is also fully committed to continuing to carry out this project operation with high efficiency, quality and prioritizing principles of health, safety, security, and environment (HSSE).
Meanwhile, SKK Migas and PEB have closely overseen the field reactivation activities starting from the process of procuring production facilities in accordance with PTK 007 regulations to coordinating with the regions to support the smooth running of the project.

In addition, PEB made a breakthrough to increase production from the Camar Field by starting a series of FEED studies and the procurement stage for project facilities components for the reactivation of other platforms, namely the monopod platform (MPA), which is expected to be completed in the III-2024 quarter.
With the support of SKK Migas, PEB is currently actively involved in the discussion and preparation of the reactivation of the MPA platform which will activate old wells such as CM-6 and MPA-1 as well as CW-1 and CW-2 well drilling at the MPA locations which are planned to be carried out in the III and 2024 quarter-IV as well as CS-5 and CS-6 drilling in 2025 at the CPP location.
With the activity plan to be carried out, the estimated production volume of the Camar Field can reach 3,000 BOPDs by 2025 so that production from this field is expected to be an addition in increasing Indonesia's energy security and providing a stable clean energy supply in the long term.
