Showing Off Senpi On Social Media, Man In Karangasem Bali Arrested

DENPASAR - A man with the initials ATW (33) from Telaga Tawang Village, Sidemen District, Karangasem Regency, Bali, was arrested by the Karangasem Police, Bali, for showing off firearms (senpi) on social media.

The perpetrator was detained at the Karangasem Police Headquarters, Bali, on Thursday (21/3) with evidence of senpi belonging to the perpetrator.

"Currently, the perpetrators and evidence of senpi complete with magazine and bullets, cellphones and other evidence have been secured by the Karangasem Police Satreskrim for further investigation, as well as to conduct a search on where the perpetrator got the gun from," said Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan in a written statement, Thursday, March 21.

The arrest of the perpetrator began with members of the Karangasem Police Criminal Investigation Unit carrying out cyber patrols to find information related to a viral video from the TikTok @GusBenong account which posted a young man showing off his firearm and firing the gun.

The Karangasem Police investigated the viral video and arrested the perpetrator.

During the interrogation, the perpetrator admitted that the video was made by the perpetrator. The perpetrator also admitted that the gun belonged to the perpetrator without a permit.

"We urge the public to continue their activities as usual, let's remind each other between family, neighbors, friends, not to let things that harm themselves and others and can even disrupt the security and security situation occur in our environment. Entrust the legal process of the perpetrators to the police and will definitely be processed firmly in accordance with applicable regulations," he said.
