CIANJUR - Police uncovered a theft case at a food shop in Nangewer Village, Cibinonghilir Village, Cilaku District, Cianjur, West Java, by arresting one perpetrator who hid evidence of Rp50 million in chicken coops.

Cilaku Police Chief Kompol Nandang said his party received a report from the victim, the shop owner, named Bambang, who lost tens of millions of rupiah stored in the shop and a number of other items.

"The victim reported and we spread the members to get witness statements, where the theft occurred when the shop owner was performing tarawih prayers to the mosque, while the results of the crime scene, the perpetrator entered through the side wall of the shop," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Kamsi, March 21.

The perpetrator drains the box containing money from the sale of the basic necessities shop and carries cigarette packages and a number of other items, then the perpetrator comes out through the back window of the house which is integrated with the shop.

As a result of the officer's investigation, several residents who were asked to testify were suspicious of the perpetrator R's movements, who had been back and forth in front of the shop after the owner left for the mosque, but residents did not see any more men who had been involved in the theft case.

"After receiving witness statements and processing the crime scene, the investigation led to the perpetrator R, who had argued that he had not done this, he even argued that he was not in Cianjur at the time of the incident," said the police chief.

The perpetrator finally admitted his actions and said that he had hidden evidence in the form of Rp50 million in cash, a cell phone and several packs of cigarettes to trick the shop owner and when arrested by officers.

"Currently the perpetrator is still undergoing investigation and has admitted his actions, we are still developing the case because several reports related to theft in the same village are suspected to have been carried out by the perpetrators," he said.

Meanwhile, the owner of the Bambang shop, said that he was suspicious of the perpetrator's movements, who had entered before his shop closed because he wanted to perform tarawih prayers at the mosque, the perpetrator seemed to be paying attention to the location of the shop and its house.

"I didn't suspect it because at that time it was quite busy shopping at the shop, but I saw the perpetrators like watching the surroundings of the shop and not shopping, I didn't suspect I immediately closed the shop," he said.

However, how surprised the victim was when he came home from tarawih, found that the box containing Rp50 million was already empty and the window of the house was already in an open condition and was stolen from outside, including a number of items in the store.

"I immediately reported this to the police, because I did not know who the perpetrator was, but was suspicious of the perpetrator's movements who had entered before the shop closed," he said.
