Potentially Fire, Mercedes Recalls 116 Thousand SUVs In US
JAKARTA - Bad news came from Mercedes-Benz. It is known that as many as 116,020 units of 2019 to 2024 assembled SUVs in the United States (US) have the potential to be natural because there are 48V cables under the front passenger seat that have the potential to be released.
Launching Motor1, Thursday, March 21, a number of models involved consisted of the GLE series, then the GLS, and the ultra-premium model Maybach GLS600.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the US says that the 48V cable can be loose or detached and can become hot, causing unavoidable fires.
According to the Institution, this high-voltage ground connection may not be installed strictly as a whole during assembly.
The investigation was carried out based on field reports to determine the specific cause and Mercedes ultimately determined that the connection could be slack due to the rework linked directly to the cable.
It was reported that there were 31 field reports involving the matter between August 2022 and the end of November 2023. Thus, this German manufacturer issued a recall order in the US.
