M 5.4 Earthquake In Kasonaweja Papua, BMKG: Beware Of Aftershocks

JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude (M) of 5.4 occurred in Kasonaweja, Mamberamo Raya Regency, Papua, on Thursday, March 21, at around 07.19 WIB. The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) revealed that this earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.

However, BMKG asked local residents to be vigilant and careful of the possible aftershocks that occurred.

It is known, the location of the earthquake occurred about 79 km northwest of Kasonaweja, Papua.

BMKG has not reported in detail regarding the triggers and impacts caused by the earthquake on the community.

For this reason, the public is advised to remain calm and not be influenced by issues that cannot be justified, until the results of the analysis of comprehensive events are reported by the BMKG.
