Barelang Police Unload Online Gambling With A Turnover Of IDR 2 Billion, Main Mode Via Social Media

The Barelang Police managed to dismantle online gambling with a turnover of more than IDR 2 billion per month. From the raid, officers arrested 12 people, one of whom was in charge and 11 were game operators.

Officers from the Barelang Police raided an apartment that was used as the headquarters for online gambling managers in the Pelita area, Batam City, Riau Islands.

Kapolresta Barelang Kombes Pol Nugroho Tri Nuryanto said his party secured dozens of computers, cell phones and various internet connection equipment as well as tens of millions of cash.

"The mode carried out by this network is to promote online gambling sites on various social media by promising multiple bonuses," said Nugroho.

From the examination, this online gambling network uses a website that divests in Cambodia.

"In a month this network is able to reap a profit of IDR 2.2 billion and has been operating for more than three months," added Nugroho.

Officers continue to carry out intensive examinations of the perpetrators to reveal the big boss who manages online gambling.
