Pelni Ensures 56 Ships Prepared For Eid Homecoming 2024 Are Seaworthy
JAKARTA - President Director of PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) Tri Andayani confirmed that 56 ships were prepared in the operation to transport homecoming flow and backflow in Lebaran 2024/Idulfitri 1445 Hijri, in seaworthy conditions.
"Docking has been carried out so as not to interfere with the smoothness of the readiness of the 2024 Eid transportation 'peak season'. For that we believe, God willing, all of our ships will be seaworthy and operating," Tri said at the Lebaran Sea Transport Press Conference 1445 Hijriah in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 21.
In addition to docking, Tri said that his party had also ramp checked 56 ships consisting of 26 passenger ships and 30 pioneer ships outside the annual schedule, namely two times.
He explained that the ramp check was to ensure the ship's seaworthiness, both from technical, safety and administrative aspects. In the ramp check, the activities carried out include checking the hull of the ship.
In addition, ensure that passenger facilities on board are in good condition, ensure navigational equipment is functioning properly, carry out engine checks thoroughly, and ensure all safety equipment is ready for use during an emergency.
"The three pillars of Pelni that must be guided by all Pelni personnel in carrying out services to the community are safety first, zero accident, and service accident," said Tri.
He said the Eid transportation period in 2024 will run for 32 days from March 26 to April 26, with the prediction that the peak of the homecoming flow will be on April 5 and the backflow on April 21.
"As for the fleet that we are operating for the 2024 Eid transportation, 56 fleets consist of 26 passenger ships with 50,800 seats and 30 pioneer ships with 11,889 seats," said Tri.
Tri added that his party also prepared safety equipment on ships both on passenger ships and on pioneer ships.
For passenger ships, there are three types, namely 226 lifestyles that can contain 25,805 people, 1,794 live-rafts that can contain 44,850 people, and 72,816 live-packets that can be used by 72,816 people.

"This year, thank God, Pelni has completed the safety equipment, namely the Merrin evacuation system or MES. If on the plane it slides down, this is a sliding tube because it is 15 to 17 meters behind the ship," said Tri.
PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia predicts the number of ship passengers on the transportation of homecoming and backflow on the Lebaran 2024/Idulfitri 1445 Hijri holiday to reach 588,903 people.
