IPDN Project Corruption, Former Ministry Of Home Affairs Official Dudy Jocom Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison

Head of the Center for Financial Administration and Asset Management at the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the 2010-2015 period, Dudy Jocom was sentenced to four years in prison in a case of alleged corruption in the construction of three campuses of the Institute of Domestic Administration (IPDN).

Chairman of the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) Chief Justice Eko Aryanto stated that Dudy had been legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption together as indicted by the two public prosecutors.

"The defendant was sentenced to four years in prison," said Eko in a trial reading the judge's verdict at the Jakarta Corruption Court as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 20.

In addition to being sentenced to imprisonment, Eko said that Dudy was also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 300 million, provided that if the fine was not paid, it was replaced with imprisonment for four months.

Dudy was also sentenced to an additional penalty in the form of payment of replacement money amounting to Rp4.62 billion. If the convict does not pay the replacement money within one month after the decision has permanent legal force, then Dudy's property can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off to cover the replacement money.

"If the convict does not have sufficient money to pay the replacement money, he will be sentenced to imprisonment for two years," he said.

The judge explained that the aggravating sentence was that Dudy's actions did not support the government's program in eradicating corruption, while the thing that eased the verdict was that Dudy was polite and cooperative in the trial and had family responsibilities.
