SAR Team Finds Another Body Of Victim KM Dewi Jaya II Drowning In Selayar

JAKARTA - The Makassar Search and Rescue Office (SAR) team, South Sulawesi, again found the body of the crew of the motorboat (KM) Dewi Jaya II who was missing in the waters of the Selayar Islands.

"One more person has been found by the team, this time in the waters of Taka Bonerate National Park floating and dying," said Makassar SAR Office Head Mexianus Bekabel as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 19.

According to him, the body of the man known as Kristanto was found floating in the waters of Taka Bonerate National Park, Selayar, Tuesday afternoon.

The crew's body since this afternoon at 13.00 WITA was evacuated using KN SAR Kramajaya to the Kayuadi post, which is 85 nautical miles away for further identification.

Mexi revealed that from these findings, on the eighth day of the search, 17 crew members of the KM Dewi Jaya II were found, 12 of whom were found safe, and five people died.

The SAR team is still trying to search for as many as 18 other missing crew members, namely Andreansyah, Mohamad Irkham, Agus Budianto, Aditya Saifudin, Ahmad Mahrus, Ahmad Musyaffa, Aji Santoso, Shajan, Dhukron, Edi Surito, Haidar Muthohar Ahmad, Hendy Dianto, Ifnu Prastian, M. Khoirul Anam, M. Zuhdanul Mahrom, Rizal, Wahyono, Zaenal Abidin.

Previously, the Basarnas team reported that KM Dewi Jaya II was a fishing vessel carrying as many as 35 crew members. The ship departed sailing from Penjaringan, North Jakarta to Lombok waters, West Nusa Tenggara on Sunday (3/3) morning.

However, in the middle of the voyage or to be precise Saturday (9/3) in the morning there was a high wave, causing the ship to capsize, allegedly entering the Selayar Islands waters.

The tragic incident was only discovered after fishermen reported to Basarnas picket officers they found as many as 13 people stranded in the waters Tuesday (12/3) morning, of which 11 survived and two were found dead on Jampea Island, and Kayuadi Taka Bonerate Island.
