LBX Lexus Starts Entering Southeast Asian Market, Price IDR 900 Million

JAKARTA - Launched in early June last year globally, the LBX Lexus officially launched in the Philippines, as well as debuted as a compact SUV in Southeast Asia.

Carrying the theme 'Premium Casal' with a stylish design, this car is the brother of the Toyota Yaris Cross which is sold in Europe and is considered the most affordable Lexus model but retains a distinctive element of luxury.

"We are trying to create a driving experience that facilitates a natural dialogue between the driver and his vehicle, as well as a design that displays a subtle impression," said Lexus Chief Engineer Kunihiko Endoh, as reported by Top Gear Philippines, Tuesday, March 19.

The front features a spindel green grip that resembles the RX and LM models with a thin LED light that adorns the front facilities. While the back adopts a design from UX but with a cleaner and smoother look.

On the inside, LBX offers a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with an additional 9.8-inch touch screen. The infotainment system is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

To avoid user boredom, Lexus collaborated with Mark Levinson to provide a sound system with 13 speakers and subwoofers.

In terms of powertrain, LBX carries hybrid technology with a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder gasoline engine that produces a total power of 134 dk and a torque of 185 Nm. This crossover is available with a front wheel drive option and all wheels, and is equipped with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) transmission.

With the power generated from engines and electric motors, LBX can reach speeds of 0 to 100 km/hour in 9.2 seconds.

Lexus offers eight dual-tone exterior color options for LBX, including Sonic Quartz, Silver Metallic, Astro Gray Metallic, Red Spinel, Sonic Copper, Sonic Chrome, Passionate Yellow, and Deep Azure Mica Metallic.

By presenting various luxury features, the LBX Lexus is sold in the Philippines at a price of 2.968 million pesos (equivalent to around IDR 835.8 million).
