Tesla Will Increase Model Y Prices For The US And European Markets

JAKARTA - After announcing price increases for Model Y in the United States, Tesla also plans to raise prices on the same models in a number of European countries.

Quoting from the ArenaEV page, Tuesday, March 19, this was stated on the company's social media pages. For the European market, prices will increase by 2,000 euros starting March 22, 2024, while in the United States, the price increase will be 1,000 euros starting April 1 in the same month.

In Tesla's post, it was not explicitly explained the reasons for the price increase in March and April, but it was stated that all Model Y models would experience price increases, both entry level and long range models.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk replied to one of the comments under the post, clarifying that price increases are needed because vehicle production must continue to achieve efficiency, while consumer demand is seasonal.

"This is an important issue in manufacturing. Factories require sustainable production to achieve efficiency, but consumer demand is seasonal," said CEO Elon Musk.

The price increase scheduled for April will see Tesla's entry-level price go up from the initial price of 43,990 US dollars (Rp691 million) to 44,990 US dollars or around Rp707 million.

In addition, the top variant of Performance which is all-wheel drive driven if it experiences the same increase will be US $ 53,590 or around Rp. 842 million.

Tesla's price increase has become interesting, considering that they have cut their electric car prices several times to attract consumer interest, but now the company is raising its price again.
