11 Alcohol Sellers During Ramadan Arrested By Banda Aceh Police

BANDA ACEH - Banda Aceh Police personnel arrested 11 perpetrators suspected of selling liquor during the Holy Month of Ramadan 1445 Hijri from eight crime scenes (TKP).

"They were arrested at different locations, and the role of each suspect was a seller," said Head of Ops of the Banda Aceh Police, Kompol Yusuf Hariadi as reported by ANTARA, Monday, March 18.

The arrests of the perpetrators were due to public information, and were secured from seven crime scenes in Banda Aceh City and one crime scene in Baitussalam District, Aceh Besar.

From the suspect's hands, he said, the Banda Aceh Police Narcotics Unit was able to secure 84 bottles of alcohol from various brands.

"We have secured 84 bottles of alcohol for evidence. On average, the perpetrators are still beginners," he said.

The suspects received the liquor from Medan City, North Sumatra, by using an expedition service to receive the shipment of goods.

After arriving in Aceh, they sold the alcohol by means of delivery to customers, provided that they had previously communicated via cellphone.

"The seller buys it in Medan using an expedition service or buys it himself or deposits it. Then they sell it with a delivery message via cellphone," he said.

For this act, according to him, the perpetrators were charged with Aceh Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning Jinayat Law, and threatened with 60 lashes.

"The suspects sold alcohol to meet their daily needs. The suspect was charged with Jinayat Law Qanun," said Kompol Yusuf Hariadi.
