Golkar Asks For 5 Ministers, Democrats: Prabowo Already Has A Formula
JAKARTA - The chairman of the Democratic Party's BPOKK, Herman Khaeron, responded to the Golkar Party asking for 5 ministerial seats in the Prabowo-Gibran government cabinet. Herman assessed that Prabowo Subianto must have a formulation regarding his cabinet minister if later declared as president-elect.
"I think Pak Prabowo already has the formulation, and yes, it should be the president's prerogative, let Pak Prabowo decide his position, to make his decision," said Herman, Monday, March 18.
Herman emphasized that the determination of the minister is the domain of the president. Including the number of ministers and to which party the ministerial position is given which is discussed with the leadership of the coalition political parties.
"The domain given to the president, of course that is what we will wait for the best decision to provide portfolios to each supporting party," he said.
Herman was reluctant to comment on the appropriateness of the Golkar Party to ask Prabowo for a ministerial seat. However, he emphasized that the Democratic Party did not set a target for the number of ministerial seats to Prabowo.
Moreover, he said, until now there has been no internal discussion of the party. Because it is still waiting for the official announcement of the KPU on Wednesday, March 20.
"After that, the leaders of the parties will talk to Pak Prabowo to formulate a portfolio and criteria, maybe in the end the decision will be in the hands of the elected president," he said.

Herman also denied that the General Chairperson of the Democratic Party, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) asked for a share of the triumpriat minister.
"There is no request. It was fully handed over to Pak Prabowo and Mas Gibran as president and vice president-elect," he concluded.
Previously, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, had mentioned his party's big role in winning the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair in the 2024 Presidential General Election (Pilpres).
Therefore, he suggested that the Beringin Party could hold five ministerial seats in the cabinet if Prabowo became president.
"I convey to Pak Prabowo about Golkar's contribution because we won in 15 provinces. That means we contributed 25 percent of the 58 percent victory. So, if 25 percent, if you share, yes, a lot is okay. We call five (menter positions) minimal, but if you calculate the proportion of 25 percent, there are still many rooms," said Airlangga during a celebration of the success of the Golkar Party in Badung Regency, Bali, Friday, March 15.
