Remaining 5 Provinces, Recapitulation Of 2024 Election Votes Will Be Completed Tomorrow

The General Election Commission (KPU) is still holding a plenary meeting to recapitulate the 2024 General Election at the national level. The recapitulation of votes still leaves 5 provinces out of a total of 38 provinces.

Today, the KPU has just finished recapitulation for foreign elections in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Then, the plenary meeting was suspended until tonight.

KPU commissioner August Mellaz said the recapitulation of the election results today was continued in 2 provinces.

"The trial was suspended until 20.30 WIB to continue with 2 agendas. The first is West Java, the second is Southwest Papua for tonight," said Mellaz at the KPU office, Central Jakarta, Monday, March 18.

Meanwhile, the remaining 3 provinces continued on Tuesday, March 19. The three are the Provinces of Central Papua, Papua Mountains, and Maluku.

Previously, the KPU planned to complete the recapitulation of the remaining 5 provinces today. However, there were technical problems that resulted in the recapitulation being continued tomorrow.

"If you look at the ongoing process, I think on the 18th and then on the 19th we will be able to complete everything for a deadline related to the recapitulation. We will discuss it later regarding the determination of results nationally," explained Mellaz.

After the recapitulation in 38 provinces is complete, the KPU will hold an open plenary meeting to announce the overall recapitulation results.

However, Mellaz still cannot confirm whether the determination of the election results will also be announced tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

"What is clear is that we have room for movement until March 20 as stipulated. We will definitely optimize it. So, in the last two days we have focused on recapitulating the results of the original for the election results at the provincial level," he added.
