Former Oculus Chief Calls Vision Pro An Excessive Device

JAKARTA Since it was first launched, AppleVision Pro has received a lot of praise for its sophistication. However, this device also has many shortcomings such as the lack of applications and high prices.

This shortfall has criticized Vision Pro by Hugo Barra, former Vice President of Android and Head of Oculus Meta. According to Barra, Apple's spatial computer technology is an overdesigned device.

Through his personal blog, Barra said that the presence of Vision Pro had a good impact. This device can build a wave of public curiosity so that the spatial computing ecosystem can attract more enthusiasts.

"Using Vision Pro is a magical and intuitive experience, whether you've ever used another VR headset or not, purely because of Apple's relentless focus in presenting two specific capabilities that reflect our humanity," Barra said.

Although the presence of Vision Pro has a positive side, this device has shortcomings because Apple plays safe in creating its product design. This makes Barra call Vision Pro a development kit (Devkit).

"For starters, Vision Pro comes with more sensors than necessary to provide Apple's desired experience. This is common in first-generation products that have been developed over the years," Barra said.

Apart from having excessive specifications, Barra explained that this device makes it difficult for users because it is heavy. If used for a long time, users will be disturbed and experience unwanted health problems.

"Due to its heavy weight, Vision Pro is inevitable to be present in the world as a high-quality Devkit designed to capture everyone's curiosity, heart, and mind with its miracle while remaining realistic," Barra explained.

Although the development of the early generation is a bit disappointing, Barra believes that Vision Pro is a promising technology. According to him, Apple can make VR headsets accepted by the general public in the next one or two generations.
