Golkar Now Starts Focus On Regional Head Elections, 1,040 Regional Head Candidates Prepared

The Golkar Party began to focus on the 2024 regional head elections (Pilkada) after seeing the picture of the big victory of the banyan party in the legislative and presidential elections for the 2024 General Election.

Chairman of the Golkar Party Airlangga Hartarto said he had prepared more than a thousand of the best cadres in the region to advance at the event which is planned to be held by the KPU next November.

"Golkar has prepared 1,040 regional head candidates, all of which have been given assignments and will be evaluated soon," he said in Badung Regency, Bali, as reported by ANTARA, Friday, March 15.

In the thanksgiving activity with the DPP and DPD ranks of the Golkar Party, Airlangga said that to get to the 2024 Pilkada, an evaluation of the legislative election should be carried out immediately.

The 2024 legislative election based on the preliminary count results of the KPU shows a positive picture for Golkar, where the votes of their party increased by 20 percent.

Golkar noted that 102 seats for the DPR had been secured, and there were even 2-4 potential seats that could be achieved but the KPU had not yet passed.

In addition, Golkar claims the 2024 General Election achievement in the form of victory in 15 of the 38 provinces throughout Indonesia, Airlangga mentioned several of them, such as in West Java and Banten.

Golkar Party Deputy Ahmad Doli Kurnia slightly added that coalition parties in the 2024 General Election must be treated, because not in all provinces or regencies/cities his party is able to nominate candidates without forming a coalition with other parties as a condition of nomination.

Before the 2024 Pilkada, Airlangga Hartarto said he would hold a santiaji training program, or coaching program for new elected legislative candidates in the party.

The training will be held by the Golkar Institute with a target that will last until the lower level in provinces and regencies/cities.
