Reddit Introduces New Ad Format, Similar To User Posts

JAKARTA - Reddit, a social news aggregation platform from the United States, announced the launch of a new ad format that looks similar to posts made by users on the platform.

Called the free-from ads, the idea of this ad model was inspired by one of Reddit's users, namely megathread, where the posts are always crowded and become a forum for discussions about popular topics.

"Iklan is free to give advertisers the flexibility to create ads at any duration, using various types of media, with the platform's original views and nuances," said Jim Squires, EVP Marketing and Business Growth at Reddit in his announcement, quoted Friday, March 15.

Squires believes that this ad format can encourage a mix of content, context, and creativity from brands, as well as encourage the strong performance and awareness of brands.

"Free forms are unique to Reddit and its unique community. As we continue to invest in our advertising product roadmap, it's important to take advantage of what people like the most about Reddit and create opportunities for businesses to be a part of it."

This form of free advertising was also welcomed by several brands. One of them is the Philadelphia cream cheese brand which says this type of advertisement presents a lot of consumer involvement.

"By testing Reddit's unique free-form ads, we see the rapid engagement and community enthusiasm that exceeds our expectations," said Senior Brand Manager at Philadelphia cheese cream Keenan White.
