JAKARTA - The water that submerged hundreds of houses of residents of Kebon Pala, Kampung Melayu, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta was getting higher on Friday, March 15, at dawn. The water level has so far reached 110 centimeters.
Ahmad Syaifulloh, one of the residents, said that the flood began to rise at around 00.00 WIB. The deepest point of flooding in his settlement is at an altitude of more than one meter.
"There is more than one meter in this flood, it rose quite quickly than 12 pm last night," he told reporters at the location, Friday, March 15.
Ahmad said the flood had arrived since last Thursday afternoon. Floods that hit this area are common, because of the overflow of water in the Ciliwung River due to flooding from Bogor.

"We are used to flooding like this, it looks like the flood has not rained since the beginning of the increase. This is a flood for five hours," he said.
Head of RT 13 Kebon Pala, Sanusi said, the flood had risen as high as 75 Centimeters since the Manggarai Water Gate was on standby three. He said, when the flood hit, Ramadan worship activities had to be temporarily postponed.
"The Tarawih Worship in prayer rooms and mosques, we will postpone it because the puddles have entered it," he said.
The water level is still increasing ahead of this Friday's sahur time. It can be seen that a number of residents were forced to continue their activities even though the height of the puddles continued to rise. Residents were seen walking through the floods, which had reached an adult's waist.
