Minister's House In IKN In Accordance With The Concept Of 'Compact City'

JAKARTA - Chairman of the IKN Infrastructure Development Task Force of the Ministry of PUPR Danis Sumadilaga said that the house of ministerial office in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) was in accordance with the concept of compact city.

The size of the minister's house in IKN sparked various reactions. Some consider it too small, when compared to the current ministerial official residence in Widya Chandra, Jakarta.

On the other hand, there are also those who support the concept of compact city and believe that the size of the house is quite adequate.

"It's relatively small. That's about 1,000 square meters (land). This is in line with the concept of compact city. God willing, that's enough," Danis told reporters after attending the IKN National Coordination Meeting in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Thursday, March 14.

Houses with the concept of compact city generally emphasize environmental planning that is integrated with several principles, such as land efficiency, accessibility, and a sustainable lifestyle.

The minister's house in IKN has a land area of about 1,000 square meters with a building area of about 500 square meters, and consists of two floors.

The Ministry of PUPR is currently completing the construction of 36 ministerial houses in IKN which are divided into two areas, namely 24 housing units in Persil 104 and 12 units in Persil 105. The entire construction of the landed house of the ministerial position is targeted for completion in July this year.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono has stated that he is ready to move to IKN this July.

Meanwhile, President Joko Widodo plans to start based in IKN after the airport and toll roads operate, which is also expected to start in July 2024.
