BANJARBARU - Banjarbaru Resort Police, South Kalimantan immediately took action against illegal racing and secured dozens of motorbikes suspected of being used for racing on the streets.The combined initiative involves all police functions starting from the Traffic Unit, Satreskrim, Sat Intelkam and Sabhara and supported by Satpol PP personnel who plunged into a number of points in Banjarbaru, Thursday morning.Head of Traffic Unit, AKP Edwin Widya Dirotsaha Putra, said that being active on the third night of Ramadan was carried out as a follow-up to the rise of illegal racing."This activity is a follow-up to the illegal racing action carried out by a group of youths who make people restless and disturb the peace of society in the month of Ramadan," said Edwin in Banjarbaru, Antara, Thursday, March 14.According to Edwin, who directly took the lead, as many as 74 units of two-wheeled vehicles were successfully secured in four locations that were targeted by joint personnel at the activity ahead of the sahur.Edwin said that dozens of motorcycles were secured from four locations, namely around Dr Murdjani Field, Jalan Panglima Batur, Simpang Empat Roundabout, and on the road near SMAN 3 Banjarbaru."We secure all vehicles while waiting for the trial process in court after the month of Ramadan. We hope that the action will stop the perpetrators of illegal racing," said Edwin.Edwin emphasized that his party had collected data on dozens of motorcyclists who were caught in raids and it was suspected that their motorbikes were ready to be used for illegal racing on the streets."Most vehicles in conditions do not meet security standards such as using Brong exhausts, are not equipped with mirrors, to incomplete driving documents," said Edwin.It said, apart from securing dozens of two-wheeled vehicles, one four-wheeled vehicle was also secured, including two people who were arrested for possessing sharp weapons and narcotics."One young man was arrested for carrying a sharp weapon behind a Cempaka gas station and one person was proven to be carrying narcotics in the form of 57 Zenith pills at the Simpang Empat roundabout," said Edwin.Edwin said that the raid targeting illegal racing perpetrators would continue because their actions were troubling the community, especially Muslims who were carrying out worship in the month of Ramadan."Our commitment is to create a conducive security and social security situation during the month of Ramadan so that active or take action against illegal racing perpetrators continue to be carried out according to conditions," he said.Previously, illegal races occurred on the first day of Ramadan, namely in the Simpang Empat Banjarbaru roundabout followed by the second night of Ramadan in front of the Banjarbaru City Hall, Jalan Panglima Batur.
