Water Supply Is Guaranteed To Be Safe Before President Jokowi's Office In IKN

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono will ensure that the water supply in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) is safe, before Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) starts based in the new capital city of Indonesia.

Previously, President Jokowi stated that the plan was to have an office in IKN after the airport and toll roads could operate, which is expected to start in July 2024.

"The important thing is that not only airports and toll roads, but also water. So we plan to get water (to IKN) in June, toll roads and airports around July can (operation)," Basuki said after attending an internal meeting chaired by President Jokowi regarding the development of IKN development, at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, March 13.

With the completion of the basic infrastructure development, Basuki is optimistic that the government's plan to hold a series of RI Anniversary events at IKN can be carried out.

"That's why later on August 17, God willing, it will be done there and he (President Jokowi) will have an office there," said Basuki.

The Ministry of PUPR through the IKN Infrastructure Development Implementation Task Force built two drinking water treatment plants (IPA) to supply drinking water to IKN.

The first IPA is the Sepaku River Intake infrastructure with a capacity of 350 liters per second with funding from the APBN, while the second IPA is an IPA installed at the Sepaku Semoi Dam with a capacity of 300-350 liters/second with funding from a grant provided by South Korea.

The Ministry of PUPR itself targets that the construction of the IPA from the Sepaku River Intake can be completed first.

"Thus, at least with the two IPAs running, the IKN Nusantara area will get a drinking water supply of around 600 - 700 liters/second," said Head of the Task Force (Kasatgas) for the Implementation of the Danis Sumadilaga Infrastructure Development, last November.

Based on Presidential Regulation No. 63/2022 concerning Details of the Main Plan for the Capital City of the Archipelago, the drinking water treatment plant (IPA) aims to provide and process safe drinking water supplies.

The principle used in IPA development is that the IPA location is optimized with the operation and maintenance of the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM).

Then ensure interconnection between IPA so that drinking water production can continue when one of the installations is not operating.

One of the basic principles of water infrastructure in IKN Nusantara is the management of water resources aimed at providing access to drinking water, water for economic and environmental needs, protection of water sources from pollution, including through safe and sustainable sanitation (domestic waste and waste), as well as reducing flood risk in one integrated water management system.
