Pelita Jaya Jakarta And Prawira Bandung Become Indonesian Representatives At BCL Asia 2024
JAKARTA Pelita Jaya and Prawira Harum Bandung will represent Indonesia in the 2024 Asian Basketball Champions League (BCL) Qualification.
The qualifying round will be held in two countries. The first takes place in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, on 3-7 April 2024, while the second takes place in Jakarta, Indonesia, on 23-26 April 2024.
"Currently we are preparing to host on April 23-26 2024," said the person in charge of the implementation of the qualification in Jakarta, George Fernando Dendeng.
Prawira Harum Bandung and Pelita Jaya Jakarta are the winners and runners-up of the national prestigious basketball league, the Indonesia Basketball League (IBL), the 2023 competition season.

Prawira Harum Bandung joins Group A with representatives of Malaysia (NS Matrix Deals), Hong Kong (Hong Kong Eastern), and Mongolia (runner-up qualification in Mongolia) in the 2024 BCL Asia qualification.
Meanwhile, Pelita Jaya will compete in Group B along with representatives of Thailand (Hi-Tech Basketball Club), qualifying champions in Mongolia, and Singapore (Adroid Club).
In the first round of qualification in Mongolia, there will be eight participating teams divided into two groups, each containing four teams. The first place in Group A and B will qualify for the second qualifying in Jakarta.
Then, second and third places in the group will meet cross-section. The winner of the meeting will also advance to Jakarta.
"From this competition in Jakarta, two of the best teams will be obtained to qualify for BCL Asia 2024," said Secretary General of PP Perbasi, Nirmala Dewi.
Two teams that have escaped competition in Jakarta will fight again with teams winning from South Korea, Japan, China and the Philippines.
The best team will later become a representative against a team from the West Asia Super League to become the best club in Asia.
"This event is not only a stage for the best teams from East Asia or Southeast Asia, but also to measure their quality in the highest inter-club competition in Asia," said Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Executive Director, as reported on the official FIBA website.
