PON Aceh-Sumut 2024 Becomes PSSI Momentum Sharpening The Quality Of Player Development

JAKARTA - Football observer Tommy Welly, who is often called Bung Towel, said that the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON) was one of the moments for the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) to sharpen the quality of coaching for young national team players.

According to him, PSSI must be able to take advantage of this moment to monitor the game of young players from the regions so that the regeneration of senior national team players is maintained.

"Yes, it must develop, coaching is tiered," said Towel as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, March 12.

"In addition to monitoring young seeds during PON, PSSI has many things to do in fostering young players, such as increasing the number of competitions made by PSSI," he said.

He asked competitions such as the Elite Pro Academy (EPA) League 1 U-18, U-20, and so on to be sharpened.

"Whether it's from the number of matches, the quality," said Bang Towel.

He also asked PSSI to prepare a person who understands and can realize a detailed and comprehensive coaching program, so that it can be done from grassroots to elite levels.

He assessed that the technical director for coaching young players must be held by people who really understand football so that the coaching of young players becomes better which in turn can make the regeneration of national team players can develop rapidly.

PON Aceh-North Sumatra is scheduled to take place on September 8-20, 2024, by competing in 65 sports, with 32 sports being held in Aceh and 33 sports in North Sumatra.
