Ministry Of Religion: Hilal Awal Ramadan Under New Criteria MABIMS, Possibility Can't Be Observed

JAKARTA - Members of the Hisab Rukyat Team of the Ministry of Religion, Cecep Nurwendaya, said that the visibility of the early hilal of Ramadan was still under the new criteria for MABIMS (Minister of Religion of Brunei Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore), so it was possible that it could not be observed (rukyat)."In all parts of Indonesia, the position of hilal on 29 Syakban 1445 H is already above the horizon. However, it is still under the criteria for the MABIMS rukyat impur," said Cecep in an early hilal presentation of Ramadan in Jakarta, Antara, Sunday, March 10.The new MABIMS criterion stipulates that astronomically, the hilal can be observed if the moon has a minimum height of 3 degrees and an elongation of at least 6.4 degrees.Meanwhile, according to Cecep, at the time of Maghrib, March 10, 2024, the height of the hilal throughout Indonesia was between - 0° 20‘ 01“ (-0.33°) s.0&d.0° 50‘ 01“ (0.83°) and the elongation between 2° 15‘ 53“ (2,26°) s.2&d.2° 35‘ 15“ (2,59°)."If you look at this figure, the hilal ahead of the beginning of Ramadan 1445 H on this rukyat day is theoretically unpredictable, it will not be bad luck, because its position is under the criteria for Imkan Rukyat," said Cecep. Therefore, said Cecep, if the data is associated with the potential for rukyatul hilal, astronomically or astronomically, it is possible that the beginning of the month of Ramadan will fall on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.The results of this reckoning will then be confirmed through observations of the hilal (rukyatullal)."Rukyatulhilal is confirmation. If later anyone can observe the hilal, then Ramadhan falls tomorrow. But if it cannot be observed, then the Syakban month will be completed to 30 days, so that 1 Ramadan falls on March 12, 2024," said Cecep.Today, the Ministry of Religion held a hilal monitoring (rukyatullilal) at the beginning of Ramadan at 134 points throughout Indonesia. Rukyatul hilal is carried out by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Religion in districts/cities, in collaboration with religious courts, Islamic organizations and other agencies in the local area.
The Isbat trial determination of the beginning of Ramadan 1445 H was carried out taking into account initial information based on the results of astronomical calculations or reckoning, as well as the results of field confirmation through a hilal monitoring mechanism.
