Hamas: Israel Is Not Serious About Ceasefire

JAKARTA - The Israeli regime has not shown its seriousness in the indirect negotiations of the ceasefire and the exchange of prisoners, said an important member of the Palestinian resistance group, Hamas.

Hamas' deputy secretary of state, Ghazi Hamad, said the Israeli regime put forward excessive terms during negotiations and did not show enough seriousness to reach an agreement, reported by ANTARA from Anadolu, Saturday, March 9.

According to him, the war cabinet of the occupation regime is willing to continue the war and massacres in Gaza and ignore the prisoners and their families.

However, Hamad continued, Hamas will continue to negotiate until there is a significant agreement that guarantees the cessation of war, withdrawal of occupation troops, reconstruction of Gaza and repatriation of refugees.

Given the increase in cases of starvation in the Gaza Strip, a number of international parties have pressured the Israeli regime, he said, adding that Hamas is calling for greater pressure on the regime to open routes for sending humanitarian aid to Gaza by land and sea.

Hamas' political bureau member Husam Badran had previously ruled out a possible ceasefire before the holy month of Ramadan as during recent talks in Cairo, the Israeli regime rejected Palestinian proposals.

Hamas will continue to aggressively negotiate at the internal level to reach consensus on this issue, he said.

Badran also emphasized that the Palestinian resistance group would not provide any leniency to the occupation regime.
