The two most common HPV genotypes, found to be the cause of about 70 percent of cases of cervical cancer in women. Not only cervical cancer, HPV infection can also cause other dangerous diseases, such as anus cancer, penis cancer, and genital wartils
Based on the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the HPV vaccine is shown to have a high level of efficacy, almost reaching 100 percent in preventing HPV infection for individuals who have not been infected with the vaccine. To reduce the risk of the impact of the HPV virus, it is important to give the HPV vaccine to children and also to adolescents and adults, both for women and men.
Unfortunately, prevention efforts have not become a priority for the community at this time. For example, cervical cancer, which is one of the diseases caused by ole HPV infection, screening coverage in 2023 has been very low, only reaching 7.02 percent of the 70 percent target. Whereas preventive measures such as screening and vaccination perl are taken to reduce the potential for infection and the impact of the HPV virus itself.
