Minister Of PUPR: KIAT Program Extended Until June 2026

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed that the Indonesia-Australian cooperation program for Infrastructure (KIAT) was extended with an effective period until June 2026.

"The KIAT program has been extended with an effective period until June 2026. Collaboration through this program focuses on the water and sanitation sector, transportation, and infrastructure financing," Basuki said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, March 7.

He said the cooperation between Indonesia and Australia in infrastructure development was realized through the KIAT program.

With a cooperation value of 150 million Australian dollars and valid until 30 June 2022.

Other collaborations in the infrastructure sector with the Australian Government include the construction of the Integrated Domestic Waste Management System (SPALD-T) Palembang, South Sumatra. which President Jokowi inaugurated on October 26, 2023.

The grant worth approximately 67 million Australian dollars was used for the construction of an IPAL and a pump station capable of serving 120,000 people with a capacity of 20,000 m3/day.

"The Indonesian government also participates in continuing the construction of its piping network. Starting from the main collection pipeline to household connections with the same amount of investment," said Basuki.

During a working visit to Melbourne, Australia, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono together with Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno and Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi accompanied Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the Bilateral Meeting with Australian Prime Minister (PM) Anthony Albanese, New Zealand PM Christopher Luxon, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

The bilateral meeting is one of a series of ASEAN-Australia Special Summit activities held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the ASEAN-Australian partnership.

Topics discussed include sustainability and opportunities for cooperation between countries, including in the infrastructure sector.
