Respect Nyepi Day, Mount Bromo Area Closed Total March 11-12

JAKARTA - The Mount Bromo area has been completely closed from tourist activities during Nyepi Day since March 11-12 at 06.00 WIB.

"Mount Bromo tourism activities are completely closed from Monday (March 11), to Tuesday (March 12) at 06.00 WIB," said Head of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) Hendro Widjanarko in Malang City, East Java, Thursday, March 7, confiscated by Antara.

Hendro explained that the closure of the Mount Bromo tourist area was carried out in order to honor Nyepi Day, Saka New Year 1946. The closure of the area, contained in a letter numbered PG.2/T.8/BIDTEK/KSA.5.1/B/03/2024.

According to him, the closure took into account the Letter of the Chairman of Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia, Probolinggo Regency Number 378/Pem/PHDI-KAB/II/2024 issued on February 20, 2024 regarding Requests for Closing Bromo Areas.

"The closure of Mount Bromo tourism activities is in order to honor Nyepi Holy Day Saka New Year 1946," he said.

He added that the closure of tourism activities from the Probolinggo Regency was carried out in Wonokerto Village, Sukapura District. Meanwhile, from the direction of Pasuruan Regency, it was closed in Wonokitri Village, Tosari District.

"From the direction of Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency, it was closed in Jemplang, Poncokusumo District, Malang Regency," he said.

Based on records from the TNBTS Center, the number of tourist visits at one of the main tourist destinations in East Java throughout 2023 reached 368,507 people, which are divided into domestic and foreign tourists.

This number is divided into 355,297 domestic tourists and 13,210 foreign tourists. The visit also provided Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) worth IDR 14.70 billion.
