Bakrie Group Issuers Find 126 Billion Gas Cubic Foot In Bentu WK

The energy issuer of the Bakrie Group, PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk (ENRG) or EMP through its subsidiary EMP Bentu Limited received gas findings of 126 billion cubic feet. This gas finding was obtained from drilling activities at the CEN-01 gas well.

EMP Bentu Limited is the operator and holder of 100 percent of the participating interest over the Bentu KKS Block.

EMP and General Manager EMP Bentu Limited Tri Firmanto in an information disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) said they would follow up on these findings by drilling several development wells, construction of gas pipelines and building additional production facilities.

"We hope to be able to start producing gas from the CEN-01 well with an average volume of 45 million cubic feet of gas per day in the future," Tri said, quoted on Thursday, March 7.

He added that the company will also further develop the findings at the CEN-01 gas well in order to optimize gas production from the Bentu KKS block in the near future.

Tri said that the increase in gas production from the block is expected to have a positive impact on the company's financial performance in the future.

" Assuming the selling price of gas at 6 US dollars per MMBTU, the gas production of 45 million cubic feet of gas per day is worth 270 thousand US dollars per day or 100 million US dollars per year," continued Tri.

Tri further said that the gas findings at KKS Bentu would maintain the company's contribution in supporting gas production in the future because more than 50 percent of gas production in the North Sumatra (Sumbagut) region was contributed by EMP.

"It is hoped that the findings of this gas will soon be produced commercially to meet the needs of electricity and industry in Riau Province and support the national gas balance," he explained.

For information, the Bentu KKS Block is currently operated and is owned by 100 percent of participating interest (PI) by EMP Bentu Limited. Meanwhile, throughout 2023, the Bentu KKS block produces an average of 81 million cubic feet of gas per day.
