Hyundai's N Division Focuses On Developing EVs And Opens Hybrid Options For Efforts To Expand Environmentally Friendly Vehicle Lines

Hyundai, an automotive brand from South Korea, is actively developing the latest electric vehicles to expand their environmentally friendly ranks globally. This strategy is also implemented in the 'N' division, Hyundai's high performance car division.

After successfully launching Ioniq 5 N, a highly appreciated high-performance electric car, this sub-brand plans to offer more choices of environmentally friendly vehicles, not only limited to pure EVs.

Albert Biemann, as the Technical Advisor of Hyundai N, sees the potential for hybrid vehicle development, although this decision is still under the company's consideration.

"We are considering developing a hybrid powertrain that is more powerful for other vehicles at the Hyundai Motor Group, but at this time we have not been able to confirm," he said as quoted by Drive, Thursday, March 7.

As a former BMW executive, Biemann stated that Hyundai is considering launching a hybrid car N depending on market demand, while maintaining interest in high-performance vehicle fans.

Biemann also expressed his desire to provide a small N model with a hybrid powertrain, with the hope that the public can accept this transition well.

"I'm pushing for a small car development project with a hybrid concept, but it's too early to confirm this plan to consumers," he added.

Some time ago, the South Korean manufacturer has decided to stop producing models with internal combustion engines in Europe, as part of the shift to electrification. Currently, division N has successfully sold two hatchback vehicles, namely i20 N and i30 N, as well as presenting the latest electric car, Ioniq 5 N.
