The Latest Generation T-Roc Trial, Reportedly The Last Edition Of VW Ends The ICE Engine Car Era
JAKARTA - Volkswagen has long been planning to stop selling combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to provide space for EVs and one of the latest ICE-engined models is in the development stage.
Reporting from Autocar, Wednesday, March 6, the manufacturer is testing the latest T-Roc and is referred to as the last ICE model ever presented by them. This is evidenced by the catch of a spy camera that the model is in the final stages of testing.
This second-generation model has a front look that resembles the latest Tiguan, with a redesigned grip and a refresher on the headlights. In addition, the side profile is smoother with one chrom strip along the vehicle body.
Moving to the back, this latest T-Roc gets lights inspired by Golf and steeper glass. It is stated that this car uses the MQB Evo platform and offers the same machines as Passat, Tiguan, and Golf facelift.

Just like any other model, it is likely that this SUV will offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV) of a 19.7 kWh capacity battery capable of running with pure electric power of about 100 km and has charging capability with a DC fast-charging of 50 kW.
The German manufacturer also introduced the option of 1.5 liters of mid-hybrid for the first time on this model to minimize the use of combustion engines and play a role in increasing fuel efficiency.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen also offers a pure ICE engine with a choice of 1.0 liter 3-cylinder or 1.5 liters turbo. Then, a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder engine is expected to be available as well as the Golf model. This car is expected to be on the market in 2026.
