This Is The Effort Of Retail Entrepreneurs To Anticipate High Rice Prices Ahead Of Ramadan 2024
The Indonesian Shopping Center Retailers and Tenants Association (Hippindo) has prepared a strategy to anticipate the high price of rice ahead of Ramadan 2024.
Chairman of Hippindo Budihardjo Iduansjah said his party would provide discounts on the purchase of rice in modern retailers.
"Indeed, before fasting, the price of rice rose, because beef also rose. Indeed, we want to do a lot to suppress inflation, rice will be given a discount later, but buy a shampoo," said Budihardjo at the Kemenkop UKM office, Jakarta, quoted Wednesday, March 6.
Budihardjo assessed that the provision of discounts on rice during Ramadan was also an effort to suppress inflation.
"We give discounts during Ramadan to reduce inflation as well. Later, there will be buy 1 get 1 too," he said.
Furthermore, said Budihardjo, the rice stock is actually in sufficient condition. However, he did not deny that the suppliers were holding back the delivery of these commodities to modern retailers.
"In principle, the stock is in stock, but the supplier has not been sent because it wants to sell more expensive, maybe. For us, right, the Highest Retail Price (HET) is bound. From there it doesn't supply, so we communicate with Bulog directly," he said.

He added that at this time the price of rice should have dropped in modern retail. Remember, Bulog has also conveyed this.
"The price (rice) has decreased, said Bulog, it has dropped. This week (the price of rice) should have dropped in modern retailers. Right, you can't sell high rather than HET," he added.
Based on data from the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Price Panel, Wednesday, March 6, the price of premium rice rose slightly by 0.30 percent to Rp16,530/kg and medium rice fell 0.21 percent to Rp14,300.
Even so, the price of rice soared well above the Highest Retail Price set by the government in the National Food Agency Regulation (Perbadan) Number 7 of 2023, which is IDR 13,900-IDR 14,800 per kg for premium rice and IDR 10,900-11,800/kg for medium rice.
