Today, SYL Delivers Exceptions In Extortion And Gratification Cases Of IDR 44.5 Billion
JAKARTA - The series of trials of alleged corruption cases at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) was held today, Wednesday, February 6.
The Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court (PN Jakpus) will hold an exception trial or objection note filed by the former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL.
The exception was proposed by SYL along with two other defendants, namely former Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture Kasdi Subagyono, and former Director of Agricultural Equipment and Machinery Muhammad Hatta.
The exception in response to the indictment that has been read out by the public prosecutor at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding cases of alleged extortion and gratuities worth IDR 44.5 billion.
"Wednesday, March 6, 2024. The agenda for reading the exception," said a statement on the Central Jakarta District Court's case tracking information system (SIPP), quoted Wednesday morning.
The exception trial is scheduled to be held at 10.00 WIB in the Hatta Ali courtroom at the Central Jakarta District Court. The defendant will read out their respective exceptions before the panel of judges.
For information, SYL was charged with extortion and gratification together with Kasdi Subagyono and Muhammad Hatta. The SYL extortion and gratification case is already in the trial stage, while the TPPU case is still under investigation by the KPK.

In the trial of reading the indictment that took place at the Corruption Court at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday last week, the KPK prosecutor said the defendants had abused power with the intention of benefiting themselves or others.
"Against the law or by abusing power, forcing someone, namely echelon I officials at the Ministry of Agriculture and his subordinates to provide something, pay or accept payments with deductions or do something for him," said the KPK prosecutor.
