The Minister Of Communication And Information Expressed Opportunities And Challenges For Utilizing AI In The Telecommunications Sector
JAKARTA - The use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology is increasingly massive today. This can be seen from the value of the AI market at the global level, which is expected to reach 13 trillion US dollars by 2030.
Meanwhile, at the ASEAN regional level, the use of AI itself is estimated to reach one trillion US dollars, with 366 billion US dollars of this amount, estimated to come from Indonesia.
Departing from the data, the Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie Setiadi also revealed that AI will have a significant impact in the telecommunications sector.
First, according to the Minister of Communication and Information Budi, the use of AI can increase the effectiveness of commercial activities of telecommunications service provider companies through customer service automation.
"Secondly, AI can also be used to support fraud detection and prevention efforts in the telecommunications industry," Budi said at the CNBC Tech and Telco Summit 2024, on Tuesday, March 5 in Jakarta.

Not only that, Budi continued, where AI can also encourage energy savings efforts in the operation of telecommunications instruments and technology, thus having a positive impact on environmental sustainability.
But unfortunately, among the many advantages brought by AI, the Minister of Communication and Information saw that the perpetrators in the telecommunications industry still had complex challenges from the use of AI.
"Such as the lack of appropriate skills and resources, challenges of integration, concerns about security and culture that do not support innovation," concluded Budi.
