PSSI Hopes There Will Be Heavy Sanctions For The Brutal Incident Of Wahyudi Hamisi
JAKARTA - The brutal incident carried out by Wahyudi Hamisi in the Persebaya Surabaya vs PSS Sleman match received attention from PSSI. Through the Secretary General (Sekjen) Yunus Nusi, PSSI hopes that there will be strict sanctions against players.
"We deeply regret the incident. We have coordinated with the Referee Committee, Mr. Rudy (Yulianto). We hope that there will be evaluations including severe sanctions against players," said Yunus Nusi in a statement quoted on Monday, March 4, 2024.
Persebaya Surabaya met PSS Sleman in the 27th week of Liga 1 2023/2024, Sunday, March 3, 2024. The match was marked by a brutal incident in the 19th minute where Wahyudi was seen kicking the head of the Persebaya winger, Bruno Moreira.

The incident occurred when Wahyudi was fighting for the ball in the PSS area, in front of referee Ginanjar Rahman who then gave a yellow card. Unfortunately, the kick hit Bruno's head who was lying down.
As a result of the incident, Persebaya had sent a letter to PSSI asking the Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir, to take further steps.
Regarding the letter sent, Yunus admitted that he had not received an objection letter from Persebaya.
However, his party has coordinated with the Disciplinary Commission and the Referee Commission so that similar incidents do not happen again.
"The Persebaya match, we used it as an evaluation and we have coordinated with the Referee Committee. We are still waiting for an objection letter from Persebaya to enter the realm of the Disciplinary Committee," said Yunus.
"We saw the incident in front of the referee and hoped that there would be respect from the players not to injure each other because it was fatal."
"We feel sorry for the players if they are not protected by their lives," said Yunus.
