Riau Police Seize 19 Kg Of Methamphetamine From Drug Network Controlled By Prisoners In Langkat
The Directorate of Criminal Investigation of Narcotics and Illegal Drugs of the Riau Police secured 19 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 21,161 ecstasy pills and 30 happy five pills controlled by a prisoner at the Langkat Narcotics Correctional Institution, North Sumatra.
Riau Police's drug director Kombes Manang Soebeti explained that these various types of drugs were secured from 13 suspects. They were secured in various locations in Riau during the operation which was carried out from 12 to 29 February 2024.
"This is an international network. This goods are obtained from Malaysia and enter through Dumai waters," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 4.
Five suspects are tasked with picking up drugs from a ship docked in Dumai according to the order of the prisoner with the initials N. Later the drugs will be taken by vehicle to Sibolga and will be circulated in Medan City and prisons.

"We have obtained the identity of the inmate and we are currently investigating his involvement," he continued.
The suspects admitted that they had sent goods to prison five times according to N's direction. Each of them was paid Rp. 6 million to Rp. 10 million.
"They have carried out their actions since November 2023. In that period, we estimate that 60 kilograms of drugs have been circulated," said Manang.
