Prepare 35 Regional Head Candidates In The 2024 Pilkada, PKB Claims There Will Be Many Surprises In Java

Deputy Secretary General of the National Awakening Party (PKB) Syaiful Huda said his party was aiming for 35 names to be promoted as candidates for regional head in the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada.

The regional head candidates to be promoted by PKB in the regional elections are not only internal party cadres, but also independent figures.

"PKB is listing several figures. What we have found is about 35 figures that we have listed. We feel that these 35 figures will be the best figures to continue changing Indonesia from the regions," said Huda at the PKB DPP office, Central Jakarta, Monday, March 4.

Dozens of potential figures who will be registered in the election include the election for governor-deputy governor, regent-deputy regent, and mayor-deputy mayor.

Mainly, PKB will carry regional head candidates on the island of Java, including the DKI Jakarta and East Java gubernatorial elections. When asked who the figures were targeted in the regional elections, Huda did not answer. He emphasized that there would be many surprises regarding these figures.

"In Java, we ensure that all provinces in Java, we ensure that there will be many surprises from the figures we have prepared, including we ensure that we can win from the provinces in Java," said Huda.

Huda emphasized that his party will continue to carry out an agenda for changes in the implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Pilkada. The narrative of change is the idea brought by Anies-Muhaimin, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates carried by PKB, NasDem, and PKS.

"The agenda for changes that have been the main agenda in the presidential election will continue to be encouraged in the implementation of the 2024 simultaneous regional elections which in stages and have even begun in front of our eyes," he said.

According to Huda, the strategy for change in the 2024 Pilkada also needs to be used in regional-level political contestation. Because, this is a strategic step to solve the challenges of community development and equality. "The challenges we face are quite heavy in the future and we believe that one of the agendas other than the presidential election that can maintain this change agenda is leadership at the provincial level, district/city levels throughout Indonesia," explained Huda.
