BMKG Suggests Powerboat F1 Activities To Be Accelerated 1-2 Hours Earlier

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) suggested that the international motorboat racing championship F1Powerboat in Balige, Toba Regency, North Sumatra be accelerated 1 to 2 hours from its original schedule.

"We convey that this championship begins at 1 or 2 hours early schedule because it is to avoid wind speeds from 1 to 3 pm," said Head of the BMKG Maritime Meteorology Center Eko Prasetyo in Balige, Toba Regency, quoted from Antara, Saturday, March 2.

Eko said the wind speed was 7 to 12 knots with a wave height of 20 centimeters, even though the F Powerboat race was considered a danger with predictions this Saturday and Sunday.

"For the chance of rain, it is predicted that it will end in the evening with moderate intensity today," said Eko.

He added that the BMKG continues to strengthen the observation system at this F1Powerboat event by providing technological tools that provide continuous wave information installed at the surrounding pier.

"Please keep this tool, don't touch it or move it because it's very disturbing," said Eko.

Starting today and Sunday, Indonesia will host the second time the Lake Toba series super fast motorboat race or F1H2O (F1Powerboat).

This year's F1Powerboat was attended by 18 racers from nine teams and came from 10 countries.

The implementation of this opening series powerboat is also special, because it has been the 300th edition since it was held in 1984 in 39 countries.

After the qualification, the organizers will hold an official free practice session which will be held on Saturday (2/3), at 07.00-08.30 WIB and Sunday (3/3) final race at 11.15-12.00 WIB.

In Indonesia, PT Aviasi Wisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney is the main organizer of the activity equivalent to the land jet race or Formula 1 (F1).
