1,868 Young Athletes In Tangerang City Participate In The SBCC Pencak Silat Championship

TANGERANG - The third Cisadane Championship (SBCC) Silat event was crowded with 1,868 young pencak silat athletes from various regions. This event was held by the Tangerang City Youth and Sports Service (Dispora) together with the Indonesian Pencak Silat Association (IPSI).

Head of Tangerang City Dispora Kaonang in Tangerang Saturday said the third SBCC was held at Balekota Mall on March 1-3, 2024.

"SBCC has been known as the most prestigious pencak silat event in Tangerang City for years. Not only prestigious gifts, this event has been proven to produce many young athletes who are the pride of the Tangerang City pencak silat," said Kaonang, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, March 2.

The SBCC 3 event is considered a place to search for young pencak silat athletes, especially in Tangerang City. This event contains categories of competitions that are tiered starting from the elementary school age category (SD), the junior high school age category (SMP), the age category of high school (SMA), to the general category that is followed by representatives from the organization or official college members of IPSI.

"Alhamdulillah, the enthusiasm at this event looks extraordinary. In fact, there are already thousands of young athletes in various categories from various regions who are ready to compete and test their abilities, ranging from Tangerang Raya, Banten, Jakarta, to several from outside Java," he said.

Acting Mayor of Tangerang Nurdin appreciated the enthusiasm of the athletes and silat colleges who participated in the championship which was also in order to enliven the 31st Anniversary of Tangerang City.

He hopes that the championship can further add interest and enthusiasm and motivation to the community, especially the younger generation, to preserve local arts and culture, especially pencak silat which is a native Indonesian culture.

"The current silat is already in 71 countries and this is proof that our culture is appreciated by other countries. Therefore, we must continue to develop the spirit and pride of silat which is a native Indonesian culture with events like this," he said.

He also invited the entire community to continue to support and enliven events held in Tangerang City.

"Yesterday at the City Anniversary celebration, the Tangerang City Government launched the City Calendar Event, so that the public can obtain information on what events can be visited, including one of the SBCC Championships," he concluded.
