European Union Condemns Israel's Brutal Attack On Gazans Waiting For Help
JAKARTA - EU Head of Foreign Policy Josep Borrell said Israel's attack on crowds of people waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza was a horrific act.
"I feel horrified by the news about the massacre of more civilians in Gaza who desperately need humanitarian assistance," he said in X as quoted by Anadolu, Friday, March 1.
"This death is completely unacceptable."
While stressing that depriving food aid for the community constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law, Borrell said that "humanitarian access without a hitch to Gaza must be granted."
Borrell's remarks came after Israeli forces opened fire on a crowd of Palestinians on Thursday morning as they waited for humanitarian aid in Gaza City, killing at least 112 people and injuring 760 others, according to Gaza-based Health Ministry.
Israel launched a deadly military strike on the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on October 7, which Tel Aviv says has killed nearly 1,200 people.

30,035 Palestinians have since been killed and more than 70,457 others injured amid mass destruction and scarcity of basic necessities.
Israel has also imposed a crippling blockade in the Gaza Strip, leaving its residents, especially residents in northern Gaza, on the verge of starvation.
The Israeli war has left 85 percent of Gaza's population displaced amid the acute scarcity of food, clean water, and medicines, while 60 percent of the bag's regional infrastructure has been damaged or destroyed, according to the United Nations.
Israel is accused of committing genocide at the International Court. A provisional decision in January ordered Tel Aviv to stop genocide and take steps to ensure that humanitarian aid was distributed to civilians in Gaza.
