Lessaftre Introduces Indonesia's First Instant Dry Yeast Factory
JAKARTA - Lesafffre, a leading global player in fermented and microorganisms with 170 years of experience, has inaugurated the first advanced Instant Dry Yeast factory in Southeast Asia, located in Malang Regency, East Java.
The establishment of this factory marks an important milestone in Lesafffre's expansion and strengthening its presence in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in Indonesia. Through this new facility, Lesafffre strengthens its commitment to supporting local production and reducing import dependence.
This new entity, PT Lesafffre Sari Nusa, is a partnership between Lesafffre and PT Citra Bonang as its long-term partner who has been working in Indonesia for a long time. Built in Gading Village, Malang Regency, on an area of 9.8 hectares, this facility is equipped with the latest advanced technology and with high quality standards. More than 200 new jobs will be opened for local communities to carry out the operation of this new factory.

As part of the sustainability commitment, in an effort to reduce the environmental impact of production, Lesafffre will process post-production residue through this new plant, ensuring no adverse effects on the surrounding environment. Once yeast production is complete, fermented residues will be further processed into a series of other products that can be used as fertilizer and animal feed.
Lesafffre has been commercially active in Indonesia for more than 40 years. The first subsidiary of Lesafffre in Indonesia, PT Saf Indonusa, which was founded in 2000, currently employs more than 130 employees through a bread blending factory in Surabaya, a head office in Jakarta, and four Baking CenterTM and a sales office in Jakarta, Medan, Semarang, and Surabaya.
