Viral Caucasians In Bali Pay For 100 US Dollar Police Guards, Polda Calls Old Cases
Bali Police responded to a viral video uploaded by a foreign national (WNA) who narrated that he had paid a Traffic Police to escort him while in Bali.
The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the incident uploaded by foreigners in his Instagram account @justinrossales was true, but it happened during the G20 presidency.
"That's an old case. As soon as he was checked it was true that he admitted to carrying out (the escort). But the incident took a long time, two years ago during the G20," Jansen said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 29.
Jansen said that after checking the Traffic Police in the video, the member on duty at the Gianyar Police admitted that he had escorted a foreigner, but he had forgotten about the details of the incident.
The escort was carried out by the Traffic Police from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport to somewhere at night.
Jansen said the Traffic Police in the video uploaded by the foreigner had been transferred from members of the Traffic Unit to the service post.
The reason for the mutation is because the person concerned was also found to have carried out escorts that were not in accordance with applicable procedures and regulations, not because the incident was going viral on social media.
"These members have long been transferred, not to the Traffic Unit again, because they have done the same thing, they were found out that their leadership did not report it. They did not report it to their superiors, but not the case," said Jansen.

Previously, a video circulated showing a foreign tourist in Bali being escorted by a traffic police (Polantas) using an official motorbike went viral on social media.
The video uploaded by the Instagram account @justinrossales, the foreigner admitted to paying the police $ 100 or around Rp. 1.56 million to take him to one of the locations.
"Best $100 ever parent?," reads the caption of the account in its upload.
The video shows Polantas members escorting the foreign tourists. The video, which was uploaded on January 30, was recorded from inside a car.
On the feed there is also the words 'bribing a police officer in Bali' (filling police officers in Bali).
In the video footage, it can be heard several times that the tourist laughed while making remarks while recording the Traffic Police action which was opening lanes for his vehicle while passing the highway.
"There are indications that it was not good for Caucasians to go viral on the incident," said Jansen.
