Seeing The Nutrition Value Contained From The Free Lunch Program At School
TANGERANG - The Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs held a simulation of the free lunch program for students of SMP Negeri 2 Curug, Tangerang.
As is known, the free lunch program is a mainstay program of the presidential candidate pair (candidate) and vice presidential candidate number 02, namely Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka. This program will be simulated, although there has been no official decision from the General Elections Commission (KPU).
As for the plan, the free lunch program is set at IDR 15,000 per child. However, this fee does not include free milk which will also be given.
The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that the lunch program was also part of healthier nutritional literacy.
"This nutritional literacy is important because the trend is this free meal for better nutrition," said Airlangga during a press conference, Thursday, February 29.
Airlangga added that the free lunch program is being reviewed so that it can prevent students from eating carelessly around the school. In addition, he claims that snacks outside the school are not known for sure the nutritional value.
"Outside of school, there are traders wrapped in plastic, the color is orange, children buy it. This is a challenge," he said.
In addition, according to Airlangga, this free lunch program in terms of protein and nutrition will be more certain and measurable. In addition, this program will also attract micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be able to contribute to providing food in each school.
Airlangga said that after the simulation of the lunch program in Tangerang, it would replicate similar programs in various regions.
"We want to encourage other areas that are willing to become a pilot as done in Tangerang," he said.
On this occasion, Airlangga visited four classes that became pilot projects and had a dialogue with the students. He asked about the snacks he usually gives. "Please eat it. How much money does it eat a day?" said Airlangga.
In addition, Airlangga also asked whether the pocket money was usually bought for food or otherwise. As well as the wishes of the students whether to continue this program or not. The students are united in answering to be continued every day.
Airlangga replied that the student's pocket money could be saved. "Later on, the pocket money can be saved. The children are not bored," he said.

On the same occasion, a member of the Tangerang District Health Office, dr. Sri Indriyani said that the Puskesmas is ready to help the program and there will be nutritionists provided to monitor and make health regulations.
